Privacy policy

This policy explains what information The Plano Brief collects and how we use it. We collect as little as we can.

What we collect

• Newsletter: your email address, the neighborhoods and topics you choose, and the date you agreed to receive email.
• Tips and submissions: whatever you choose to send, including a name, email, and photo only if you provide them.
• Advertising requests: your business and contact details and any images you upload. We do not collect payment details on this site.
• Saved items, neighborhoods, and planner answers: stored only in your own browser on your device (browser storage keys planobrief:saved, planobrief:neighborhoods, and planobrief:planner), never sent to our servers.
• Analytics: on the live site we use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies or build profiles. It respects your browser's Do Not Track setting. It records page views and a few interaction events such as searches and newsletter signups, without personal details.
• Basic server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider records technical information such as IP addresses to keep the site running and secure.

How we use it

We use your email only to send the newsletter you asked for and messages about your subscription. We use tip and advertising details only to respond to you and to do the work you asked about. We do not sell your information.

Directions links open Google Maps. Once you follow one, Google's privacy policy applies, not ours.

Email confirmation and unsubscribing

We confirm every newsletter signup by email before we send anything else. Every newsletter includes a link to unsubscribe at any time.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run the site, such as our web host and our email delivery service. They process data only to provide those services to us.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe at any time. To ask us to delete information you have sent us, use the tip form and tell us what you would like removed.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date below.
