The Plano Brief

About The Plano Brief

The Plano Brief is a small, independent guide to Plano, Texas. We want it to be the first place you check to find out what is happening this weekend, where to eat, play, and explore, and what is worth knowing about the city you live in.

What we cover

  • Events across Plano, pulled every day from the official calendars of Visit Plano, the Downtown Plano Arts District, Legacy Hall, Legacy West, the Heritage Farmstead Museum, and the ArtCentre of Plano
  • Places to eat, drink, shop, and spend a Saturday
  • The neighborhoods and districts that make Plano feel like home
  • City news and school news, added by hand as we confirm it with the source

How we work

We start from primary sources: the official event calendars and websites of the organizations that run things in Plano, and public records from the city and the county when we cover them. We link to every source so you can read the original for yourself. We do not yet have automated feeds from the City of Plano, Plano ISD, or the library, so that coverage is added by hand.

Our articles are drafted with the help of AI and then reviewed by an editor before they are published. Illustrations made with AI are labeled as AI illustrations. Our editorial standards explain the process in full.

Who we are

The Plano Brief is an independent, personal project started by a Plano resident who wanted an easier way to keep up with the city. It is not affiliated with the City of Plano or any other organization. See the masthead for who is responsible for what.
